The learning activities are held integrally online, except for internships, and include frontal lessons, exercises, tutorials, laboratories, seminars, conferences, workshops etc., recognized by the Council of the Master's Degree, which ensure all the competencies consistent with the themes of the course itself and its cultural profile. In particular, the Master’s Degree Program in Cognitive Science and Theory of communication encourages the development of multidisciplinary seminars that allow students to compare knowledge and methodologies coming from different disciplinary fields. Class attendance is not mandatory, but strongly recommended. University learning work is measured in CFUs (university training credits): each CFU corresponds to 25 hours of total effort per student. In compliance with the University Teaching Regulations in force, the teaching load corresponding to 1 CFU is equal to 6 hours of frontal teaching for lectures, as well as 10 hours for exercises and laboratory activities.No formative activities of any kind may be envisaged without the corresponding recognition of CFUs. The credits assigned to each training activity are acquired by the student after passing the exam or following another form of verification of the preparation or skills acquired, depending on the type of training activity carried out. The educational activities are provided:
a) in the disciplinary fields characterizing both MD-classes - Cognitive science (LM-55) and Theory of communication (LM-92);
b) in disciplinary areas related or complementary to the basic and characterizing ones.
Some learning activities are chosen independently by the student. They include: 1) activities related to the knowledge of the foreign language; 3) training activities of internship and/or apprenticeship; 3) activities for the preparation of the dissertation valid for the final exam. The assignment of CFU for these activities ) will be made according to criteria that consider that the student's overall commitment must respect the proportion of 25 hours per 1 CFU = 1 ECTS.
Teachings are normally scheduled on a semester basis. The single years of the course are divided into two teaching periods, called semesters, established by resolution of the Departmental Council, based on the University Calendar. These periods are separated by an appropriate interval, in order to allow the completion of the exams.The teaching period of the lessons, of the exams and of the final exam are established by the Teaching Calendar approved annually and available on the institutional website of the Department. There is no order of precedence in following the courses. At any rate, as a general rule, it is advisable that students, in pursuing their educational activities, follow the annual courses listed in the Study Manifesto.
As regards the examinations, students are evaluated at the end of each training activity, according to the procedures established by each teacher and published on UniME ESSE3. The exams and evaluations related to the optional courses, as "freely chosen activities" by the student, can be considered for the purposes of calculating the final grade average as corresponding to one unit. The evaluations, where foreseen, related to activities aimed at acquiring additional extracurricular linguistic knowledge, as well as computer and telematic skills, relational skills or in any case useful for employment, are not considered for the purposes of counting the exams. Credits acquired as a result of exams taken with a positive outcome for additional courses with respect to those that can be counted towards the completion of the educational path (free or extracurricular courses) remain recorded in the student's career and can give rise to subsequent recognition in accordance with the regulations in force. The evaluations obtained are not included in the calculation of the average score of the profit exams. Teachers have the possibility of carrying out intermediate written and/or oral tests during their course, which may constitute an element of evaluation of the learning phases of the discipline. The use of these interim tests must be planned and published on UniME ESSE3. Only activities carried out during the period of university enrollment may be evaluated, without prejudice to the possible recognition of examinations taken in a previous university career.
The activities of curricular training and "internships and apprenticeships in companies, public or private bodies, professional orders" are aimed at putting the student in contact with the work environments most appropriate to her/his preparation and professional enrichment. Unlike the main learning activities related to the curricular courses, these activities have to be carried out in presence at public administrations or private organizations and companies, both Italian and foreign, with which the University has entered into an agreement; they can also be carried out at University facilities or at external facilities, if managed by faculty of the Department through a regular relationship of concession or agreement of collaboration with the specific institutions in charge. The curricular activities for "internships and apprenticeships with companies, public or private bodies, professional orders" must necessarily be carried out outside the University, at public administrations or private Italian and foreign bodies and companies, with which the University has stipulated a specific agreement. These activities are authorized by the Coordinator of the Master’s Degree Program or by his delegate.and are carried out under the supervision of a professor of the course of studies who is responsible for the activity.
