Ludovico Portuese è ricercatore di tipo B («RtdB») in Archeologia e Storia dell'Arte del Vicino Oriente antico (L-OR/05). La sua ricerca si concentra principalmente sull'archeologia, la storia dell'arte e la storia sociale Mesopotamica. Ha indagato in particolare la vita di corte nell'Assiria di primo millennio a.C. (Life at Court: Ideology and Audience in the Late Assyrian Palace, Zaphon 2020), pubblicato numerosi contributi sull'arte e l'archeologia mesopotamica e dedicato due curatele allo studio delle metafore (Researching Metaphor in the Ancient Near East, Harrassowitz 2020) e dei termini ideologia e propaganda (Ancient Near Eastern Weltanschauungen in Contact and in Contrast. Rethinking Ideology and Propaganda in the Ancient Near East, Zaphon 2022). Attualmente conduce un progetto di ricerca (GALATEO project, Marie Skłodowska-Curie, Global Fellowship) sull'etichetta e l'igiene nella Mesopotamia di primo millennio a.C. e nelle culture successive alla caduta dell'impero Assiro.
Ludovico Portuese is Assistant Professor of Archaeology and Art History of the Ancient Near East (L-OR/05). His research interest mainly focuses on the archaeology, the history of art and the social history of ancient Mesopotamia. He has investigated the life at the Assyrian court during the first millennium BCE (Life at Court: Ideology and Audience in the Late Assyrian Palace, Zaphon 2020), published several articles on the art and the archaeology of Mesopotamia, and devoted two volumes to the analysis of metaphors (Researching Metaphor in the Ancient Near East, Harrassowitz 2020) and of the terms ideology and propaganda (Ancient Near Eastern Weltanschauungen in Contact and in Contrast. Rethinking Ideology and Propaganda in the Ancient Near East, Zaphon 2022). Currently he is working on a project (GALATEO project, Marie Skłodowska-Curie, Global Fellowship) which aims to understand anew the importance of etiquette and hygiene in late Assyrian society and to investigate the extent to which etiquette influenced the subsequent cultures of the Middle East.
