Curriculum
La Dott.ssa Giovanna Loredana LA TORRE, nata a Milazzo il 19/08/1962, si é laureata il 16/07/1986 in Chimica presso l’Università di Messina riportando la votazione di 110/110 e la lode, discutendo una tesi sperimentale.
Ha conseguito l'abilitazione all'esercizio della professione di chimico, sostenendo gli esami di stato della professione di chimico nella seconda sessione del 1986.
Nel Dicembre 1986 ha vinto una delle borse di studio della Fondazione Bonino & Pulejo utilizzata presso il Dipartimento di Chimica Industriale dell’Università di Bologna.
Dal 04/05/1990 al 25/05/2000 ha ricoperto il ruolo di Funzionario Tecnico presso il Dipartimento di Chimica Organica e Biologica dell’Università degli studi di Messina.
Dal 26/05/2000 ricopre il ruolo di Ricercatore Confermato quale vincitrice di concorso per valutazione comparativa riservata nel ruolo dei ricercatori universitari, per il settore scientifico disciplinare CHIM/06 - Chimica Organica - dello stesso Ateneo.
Nell'A.A. 2002-03 ha tenuto il corso di “Chimica delle sostanze organiche naturali” per affidamento della Facoltà di Scienze MM.FF.NN., per il Corso di Laurea in CHIMICA.
Negli A.A. 2003-04 e 2004-05 ha tenuto il corso di “Sintesi e tecniche speciali organiche” per affidamento della Facoltà di Scienze MM.FF.NN., per il Corso di Laurea in CHIMICA.
Dall’A.A. 2004-05 all’A.A. 2007-08 ha tenuto il corso di “Inquinamento chimico” per affidamento della Facoltà di Scienze MM.FF.NN., per il corso di Laurea Magistrale in TUTELA E GESTIONE DELL’AMBIENTE.
Nell’A.A. 2006-07 ha tenuto il corso di “Chimica organica” per affidamento della Facoltà di Medicina Veterinaria, per il Corso di Laurea in TECNOLOGIE, IGIENE E SANITA’ DEGLI ALLEVAMENTI ESTENSIVI ECO-COMPATIBILI e per il Corso di Laurea in BIOTECNOLOGIE APPICATE ALLA MARICOLTURA, ALL’ACQUACOLTURA NELLE AREE INTERNE ED ALLA TRASFORMAZIONE DEI PRODOTTI ITTICI.
Dall’A.A. 2005-06 al 2019-20 ha tenuto il corso di “Chimica generale ed inorganica” e “Chimica organica” per il CdS in TECNICHE DELLA PREVENZIONE NELL'AMBIENTE E NEI LUOGHI DI LAVORO.
Dall’A.A. 2006-07 tiene il corso di “Chimica organica” per il Corso di Laurea in SCIENZA DELL’ENOGASTRONOMIA MEDITERRANEA E SALUTE oggi rinominato SCIENZE GASTRONOMICHE.
Nell’A.A. 2015-16 ha tenuto il corso di “Chimica delle sostanze organiche naturali” nell’ambito del C.I. di Scienze dell’alimentazione II per il CdS in SCIENZE GASTRONOMICHE.
Dall’A.A. 2017-18 all’A.A. 2020-21 ha tenuto il corso di “Chimica organica” per il CdS in BIOTECNOLOGIE.
Durante l'A.A. 2003-04 ha insegnato nel corso di formazione per "Esperto di produzione e controllo di olio di oliva", finanziato dall'Assessorato Regionale al Lavoro, Previdenza Sociale, Formazione Professionale ed Emigrazione.
Dall’A.A. 2001-02 all’A.A 2007/08 ha fatto parte del Collegio dei Docenti del Dottorato in “Salubrità dell’ambiente marino, ittiopatologia e qualità igienico sanitaria del pescato” ed ha seguito nel XVI ciclo, in qualità di tutor, la dott. Teresa Pellicanò, che ha presentato la tesi dal titolo "Residui di contaminanti ambientali in campioni di Dicentrarchus labrax di allevamento".
Dall’A.A. 2008/09 all’A.A. 2010/11 ha fatto parte del Collegio dei Docenti del Dottorato in Scienze Chimiche ed ha seguito nel XXV ciclo del dottorato in “Scienze Chimiche” la dott. Alessia Tropea che ha presentato la tesi dal titolo “Cell wall sugar fermentation by Saccharomyces cerevisiae – SECOND GENERATION BIOETHANOL FROM AGRO-FOOD WASTE”.
Dall’A.A. 2011/12 ha fatto parte del Collegio dei Docenti del Dottorato in “Scienze gastronomiche” ed ha seguito nel XXVI il Dr. Fausto Gentile che ha presentato la tesi dal titolo “Il vino: determinazione di microcostituenti come indicatori di qualità e genuinità”.
Nell’A.A. 2012/13 ha insegnato il modulo: Determinazione specie ioniche mediante HPLC nell’ambito del MASTER UNIVERSITARIO di II LIVELLO in RISCHIO AMBIENTALE: ORIGINI, ANALISI E MONITORAGGIO A.A. 2011/2012 Programma Operativo F.S.E. obiettivo convergenza 2007-2013 - Regione Siciliana - Asse IV- Capitale Umano CIP n. 2007.IT.051.PO.003/IV/I2/F/9.2.14/1358 -CUP n. J45I0000250009. Ha inoltre ricoperto il ruolo di presidente di commissione agli esami per il su detto Master.
Dall’A.A. 2011/12 (sino all’A.A. 2013/14) ha partecipato ad un progetto PON01_00636 FINGERIMBALL attuato dal Dipartimento S.A.S.T.A.S. dell’Università di Messina dal titolo TECNOLOGIE E MATERIALI ANTICONTRAFFAZIONI E APPLICAZIONI NANOTECNOLOGICHE PER L'AUTENTICAZIONEE LA TUTELA DELLE PRODUZIONI AGRO-ALIMENTARI DI ECCELLENZA.
Nell’A.A. 2014 è stata nominata, con decreto rettorale N.301 del 2014, a far parte della Commissione Giudicatrice per l’esame finale per il conseguimento del Tiotolo di Dottore di Ricerca in Scienze dei Prodotti della Pesca e delle Specie Avicole ciclo XXVI.
Nell’anno 2014 è stata nominata dal Presidente del Tribunale di Messina come componente del Consiglio di Disciplina dell’Ordine Provinciale dei Chimici di Messina e più volte ha fatto parte della commissione per l’abilitazione all’esercizio della libera professione.
Da gennaio 2014 a dicembre 2017 ha fatto parte del Consiglio di Disciplina dell’Ordine dei Chimici della Provincia di Messina, su decreto del Tribunale di Messina.
Dall’AA 2016-17 ad A.A. 2019-20 è stata ed è Componente della Commissione Paritetica del Dipartimento BIOMORF.
Nel corso del suo percorso accademico ha svolto compiti didattici consistenti in lezioni ed esercitazioni interne ai corsi di Chimica Organica I (C.d.L. in Chimica), di Chimica Organica (C.d.L. in Scienze Biologiche), di Chimica Bromatologia (C.d.L. in Chimica) e di Analisi chimica dei prodotti alimentari (C.d.L. in Chimica). Ha indirizzato e guidato numerosi laureandi dei corsi di Laurea in Chimica, Scienze Biologiche, Scienze Gastronomiche e Tecniche dellla Prevenzione nell’Ambiente e nei luoghi di Lavoro nelle ricerche e nella compilazione di tesi di laurea ed è stata relatore di tesi sperimentali.
Partecipa alle commissioni di esami di profitto ed assiste gli studenti durante la preparazione delle tesi di laurea.
Titolare del finanziamento annuale individuale delle attività base di ricerca (FABBR UNIME 2019).
Ha competenza in spettroscopia NMR, IR, UV-Vis e di massa.
Ha partecipato a diversi corsi di approfondimento delle tecniche cromatografiche, perfezionandosi in cromatografia liquida ad alta risoluzione interfacciata a spettrometri di massa.
Ha buona conoscenza dei sistemi operativi Windows NT, Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7e Windows. Buona conoscenza dei pacchetti Microsoft Office 97-2010. Buona conoscenza dei software di grafica molecolare ChemSketch e ChemDraw. Buona conoscenza del software di elaborazione statistica SPSS. Buona conoscenza dei software specifici per strumentazione da laboratorio quali Chromeleon ed Xcalibur per sistemi Thermo Scientific; Class VP e LabSolution per sistemi Shimadzu; Empower e MassLynx per sistemi Waters; Clarity per sistemi Dani; ChemStation per sistemi Agilent; ICP-JY per sistemi Horib.
Durante gli anni di servizio, sia come Funzionario Tecnico che come Ricercatore, ha svolto, accanto alle mansioni connesse al suo ufficio, una continua attività di ricerca e di supporto alla didattica.
Ha partecipato a diversi congressi riguardanti la Chimica organica e la Chimica degli alimenti.
Durante la sua attività di ricerca ha svolto studi nel campo della sintesi di nuove macromolecole; attualmente i principali indirizzi della sua attività di ricerca sono rivolti:
-allo studio di sostanze naturali;
-allo studio dei profili aromatici e dei componenti minori ad azione antiossidante dei vini;
-alla caratterizzazione e controlli di qualità di prodotti agricoli;
-allo sviluppo di tecniche analitiche innovative nell'analisi degli alimenti.
Attualmente sviluppa anche piani di studio e di ricerca connessi anche con l'applicazione del sistema HACCP e di qualità nelle produzioni alimentari.
Curriculum
Dr. Giovanna Loredana LA TORRE, was born in Milazzo on 08/19/1962, graduated on 07/16/1986 in Chemistry at the University of Messina with 110/110 and honours, discussing an experimental thesis.She has obtained the qualification to practice as a chemist, taking the exams for the chemist profession in the second session of 1986.
In December 1986 she won one of the Bonino & Pulejo Foundation scholarships used at the Department of Industrial Chemistry of the University of Bologna.
From 04/05/1990 to 25/05/2000 she held the role of Technical Officer at the Department of Organic and Biological Chemistry of the University of Messina.
Since 05/26/2000 she held the role of Researcher Confirmed, as the winner of the competition for reserved comparative evaluation in the role of university researchers, for the scientific disciplinary sector CHIM/06 (Organic Chemistry) of the same University.
In the A.Y. 2002-03 she held the course of "Chemistry of natural organic substances" for the assignment of the Faculty of Sciences MM.FF.NN., for the CHEMISTRY Course Degree.
In the A.Y. 2003-04 and 2004-05 she held the course of "Synthesis and special organic techniques" by the Faculty of Sciences MM.FF.NN., for the CHEMISTRY Course Degree.
From the A.Y. 2004-05 to the A.Y. 2007-08 she taught "Chemical Pollution" for the Master’s degree course in ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AND MANAGEMENT of the Faculty of Sciences MM.FF.NN.
In the A.Y. 2006-07 she taught "Organic Chemistry", for the Degree Course in TECHNOLOGIES, HYGIENE AND HEALTH OF ECO-COMPATIBLE EXTENSIVE FARMING and for the Degree Course in BIOTECHNOLOGIES APPLIED TO MARICULTURE, TO AQUACULTURE IN INLAND AREAS AND TO THE PROCESSING OF FISH PRODUCTS, for the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine
From the A.Y. 2005-06 to 2019-20 she taught "General and Inorganic Chemistry" and "Organic Chemistry" for the I.C. “Chemical and Physical Sciences” of the Degree Course in PREVENTION TECHNIQUES IN THE ENVIRONMENT AND IN THE WORKPLACE.
From A.Y. 2006-07 she teaches "Organic Chemistry" for the Degree Course in MEDITERRANEAN FOOD AND HEALTH SCIENCE, now renamed GASTRONOMIC SCIENCE.
In A.Y. 2015-16 she taught "Chemistry of natural organic substances" within the I.C. of “Food Sciences II” for the Degree Course in GASTRONOMIC SCIENCES.
From A.Y. 2017-18 to A.Y. 2020-21 she taught "Organic Chemistry" for the BIOTECHNOLOGY Course Degree.
During A.Y. 2003-04 she taught in the training course for "Expert in the production and control of olive oil", funded by the Regional Department of Labor, Social Security, Vocational Training and Emigration.
From A.Y. 2001-02 to A.Y. 2007/08 he was a member of the Professors Board of the Doctorate in "Health of the marine environment, ichthyopathology and health and hygiene quality of the fish" and followed in the XVI cycle, as a tutor, Dr. Teresa Pellicanò, who presented the thesis entitled "Residues of environmental contaminants in samples of farmed Dicentrarchus labrax".
From A.Y. 2008/09 to A.Y. 2010/11 was a member of the Professors Board of the Doctorate in “Chemical Sciences” and followed, in the XXV cycle, the Dr Alessia Tropea with the thesis entitled "Cell wall sugar fermentation by Saccharomyces cerevisiae - SECOND GENERATION BIOETHANOL FROM AGRO-FOOD WASTE".
From the A.Y. 2011/12 he was a member of the Professors Board of the Doctorate in "Gastronomic Sciences" and in the XXVI followed Dr Fausto Gentile who presented the thesis entitled "Wine: determination of micro-constituents as indicators of quality and authenticity".
In the A.Y. 2012/13 taught the module Determination of ionic species by HPLC as part of the LEVEL II UNIVERSITY MASTER in ENVIRONMENTAL RISK: ORIGINS, ANALYSIS AND MONITORING A.A. 2011/2012. Operational Program F.S.E. 2007-2013 convergence objective - Sicilian Region - Axis IV - CIP Human Capital n. 2007.IT.051.PO.003 / IV / I2 / F / 9.2.14 / 1358 -CUP n. J45I0000250009. She also held the position of committee chair for the exams of the above-mentioned Master.
From A.Y. 2011/12 (until A.Y. 2013/14) she participated in a project PON01_00636 FINGERIMBALL implemented by the S.A.S.T.A.S. Department of the University of Messina entitled ANTI-COUNTERFEITING TECHNOLOGIES AND MATERIALS AND NANOTECHNOLOGICAL APPLICATIONS FOR THE AUTHENTICATION AND PROTECTION OF EXCELLENT AGRO-FOOD PRODUCTIONS.
In A.Y. 2014 she was appointed, by Rector's decree No. 301 of 2014, to be part of the Judging Commission for the final exam for the achievement of PhD in “Sciences of Fishery Products and Poultry Species”, cycle XXVI.
In 2014 she was appointed by the President of the Court of Messina as a member of the Disciplinary Council of the Messina Provincial Order of Chemists and several times she was part of the commission for the qualification to practice the profession.
From January 2014 to December 2017, she was a member of the Disciplinary Council of the Messina Province Order of Chemists, by decree of the Court of Messina.
From AY 2016-17 to A.A. 2019-20 she was a member of the Joint Commission of the BIOMORF Department.
During his academic career, she carried out teaching tasks consisting of lessons and internal exercises in the courses of Organic Chemistry I (Degree in Chemistry), Organic Chemistry (Degree in Biological Sciences), Chemistry Bromatology (Degree in Chemistry) and Chemical Analysis of food products (Degree in Chemistry). She has directed and guided numerous undergraduates of the degree courses in Chemistry, Biological Sciences, Gastronomic Sciences and Techniques of Prevention in the Environment and in the workplace in researching and compiling graduate theses and was supervisor of experimental theses.
She participates in the commissions of exams and assists students during the preparation of the degree thesis.
She has expertise in NMR, IR, UV-Vis and mass spectroscopy.
She participated in several advanced courses in chromatographic techniques, specializing in high-resolution liquid chromatography interfaced with mass spectrometers.
She has good knowledge of Windows NT, Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 10 operating systems. Good knowledge of Microsoft Office 97-2010 packages. Good knowledge of ChemSketch and ChemDraw molecular graphics software. Good knowledge of SPSS statistical processing software. Good knowledge of specific software for laboratory instrumentation such as Chromeleon and Xcalibur for Thermo Scientific systems; Class VP and LabSolution for Shimadzu systems; Empower and MassLynx for Waters systems; Clarity for Dani systems; ChemStation for Agilent systems; ICP-JY for Horib systems.
During the service, both as a Technical Officer and as a Researcher, she carried out, alongside the tasks connected to her office, continuous research and teaching support activity.
She participated in several congresses concerning organic chemistry and food chemistry.
During her research activity, she carried out studies in the field of synthesis of new macromolecules; currently, the main directions of his research activity are aimed at:
- the study of natural substances;
- the study of the aromatic profiles and minor components with antioxidant action in wines;
- the characterization and quality controls of agricultural products;
- the development of innovative analytical techniques in food analysis.
Currently, she also develops study and research plans connected with the application of the HACCP and quality system in food production.
