Germana Patrizia Germanà è Professore Associato presso il Dipartimento di Scienze veterinarie dell’Università di Messina.
Dottorato di ricerca in:”Neuroscienze”
Attualmente è Docente di Neuroanatomia nel corso di Laurea in Medicina Veterinaria (LM/42) e nella Scuola di specializzazione in” Fisiopatologia della Riproduzione degli Animali Domestici” presso il Dipartimento di Medicina Veterinaria.
Componente di un' unità di ricerca di un progetto cofinanziato dal MURST per gli anni 1999-2000 dal titolo “Embriogenesi in vitro: caratteri morfofunzionali correlabili con il blocco dell’attivazione del genoma”e di un' unità di ricerca di un progetto cofinanziato dal MURST per gli anni 2001-2002 dal titolo”Segnali molecolari intra ed extracellulari e meccanismi morfo-funzionali coinvolti nella produzione in vitro di embrioni di cavallo”. Entrambi i progetti sono stati svolti in collaborazione con la Facoltà di Medicina Veterinaria dell’Università di Milano.
Componente del Comitato Organizzatore del 3° Congresso dell’Associazione Italiana Morfologi Veterinari 24/25/26 Maggio 2001 Messina.
Componente del Comitato Organizzatore del XXVI Congresso “European Association of Veterinary Anatomists” 19/22 July 2006 Messina.

Attualmente Tutor del 1 anno del corso di Laurea in Medicina veterinaria (LM-42).
La Prof. Germanà ha incentrato l’attività scientifica su vari campi dell’anatomia e della neuroanatomia con l’applicazione di tecniche di immunoistochimica, microscopia elettronica a scansione e a trasmissione e di morfometria particolarmente sullo studio della distribuzione dei fattori di crescita e delle neurotrofine e dei loro recettori in tessuti nervosi. L’attività scientifica è stata svolta in collaborazione con istituzioni scientifiche nazionali ed internazionali e in particolare con: il Departamento de Morfologia y Biologia Celular dell’Università di Oviedo (Spagna) il Dipartimento di Salute e Benessere Animale dell’Università di Bari; Dipartimento di Anatomia degli animali domestici dell’Università di Milano; Dipartimento di Scienze Cardiovascolari e Respiratorie, Università “La Sapienza” -Roma

La Prof. Germanà ha incentrato l’attività scientifica su vari campi dell’anatomia e della neuroanatomia con l’applicazione di tecniche di immunoistochimica, microscopia elettronica a scansione e a trasmissione e di morfometria particolarmente sullo studio della distribuzione dei fattori di crescita e delle neurotrofine e dei loro recettori in tessuti nervosi. Curriculum
Germana Patrizia Germanà is an Associate Professor at the Department of Veterinary Sciences of the University of Messina.
-Doctor of Research in "Neuroscience".
She is currently Professor of Neuroanatomy in the Degree in Veterinary Medicine (LM / 42) and
in the School of Specialization in "Pathophysiology of Reproduction of Domestic Animals" at the Department of Veterinary Medicine.

Prof. Germanà has based the scientific activity on various fields of anatomy and neuroanatomy with the application of immunohistochemical, transmission and scanning electron microscopical and morphometrical techniques, particularly on to the study of distribution of growth factors and neurotrophins and their receptors in nervous and non nervous tissues.
The scientific activity has been carried out in collaboration with national and international scientific institutions and in particular with:
- Department of Morphology and Cellular Biology of the University of Oviedo (Spain);
- Department of Health and Animal Well-being of the University of Bari;
- Department of Anatomy of the Domestic Animals of the University of Milan;
- Department of Cardiovascular and Respiratory Sciences, University "La Sapienza" –Rome.
She is enrolled to the following Scientific Societies:
- Italian Association of Veterinary Morphologists;
- Italian Society of Veterinary Sciences;
- Italian Group for the Study of the Neuromorphology;
- European Association of Veterinary Anatomists.
