RESEARCH ACTIVITY
 • Doctor Morace began her scientific activity in 2001 (in a specialist training course) with research in the field of liver and metabolism pathologies. In this context, it has deepened the knowledge and experience necessary for the identification of new hierarchical markers with specificity and sensitivity characteristics such as to allow the early diagnosis of hepatocellular carcinoma in patients with liver cirrhosis. He also studied, on a large series of chronic hepatic patients in follow-up at the hepato-gastroenterology clinic of the UOC of Clinica Medica I of the University of Messina, the incidence of the various complications of liver cirrhosis and their impact on the natural history of the disease. During the three-year period 2009-2012 she continued this scientific research activity in the hepatology sector with the publication of further studies aimed at identifying early serum markers of hepatocarcinoma and markers possibly related to metabolic disorders and the degree of fibrosis in affected patients from chronic C virus liver disease
she also actively collaborated in the conception, management and subsequent drafting of two multicentre works concerning the therapy of chronic hepatitis from viruses B and C in the populations of Southern Italy. Since 2010 it has expanded its scientific research field in the gastroenterological field with the publication of literature reviews concerning the main pathogenetic and potentially evolutionary aspects of chronic Helicobater Pilory infection and, in the strictly endoscopic field, with various works concerning safety and efficacy at long term techniques of endoscopic resection of polypoid and non-polypoid lesions of the colon and rectum; the placement of metal stents for palliative purposes and as a bridge towards surgery in colo-rectal neoplastic stenosis; the safety and efficacy of some new accessories for the palliative treatment of neoplastic stenosis of the biliary tract for diagnosing pathologies of the bilio-pancreatic district and, even more recently, the endoscopic tattooing techniques of gastrointestinal and pancreatic lesions. In the following years, Dr. Morace concentrated her scientific and research interest on cardiovascular diseases and, above all, risk prevention as well as the search for early markers of cardiovascular risk.
She participated, as Co-investigator, in two clinical-experimental protocols:
1) "Phase III, randomized, multicentre, double-blind, pegylated IFN-alpha clinical trial in PEG IFN) plus ribavirin and thymosin / placebo in patients with HC-related chronic liver disease non-responders to previous therapy with PEG IFN and ribavirin ".
2) "Double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled clinical trial on the efficacy of 12 months of treatment with the Realsil supplement in subjects with hypertransaminasemia and non-alcoholic steatosis or stetaohepatitis, with or without HCV infection".
