POSIZIONE ATTUALE. Prof. Associato di ”Fisica Tecnica Ambientale” (ING-IND/11) in servizio c/o il Dipartimento di Ingegneria dell’Università degli Studi di Messina. TITOLI DI STUDIO. Laurea in Fisica (1990) cum laude presso l’Università di Messina. Dottore di Ricerca in Fisica (1994) presso l’Università di Messina FORMAZIONE POST LAUREAM. Partecipa (1991) come “Collaboratore Associato” ai progetti di ricerca dell’Unità di Ricerca di Messina dell’Istituto Nazionale per la Fisica della Materia (INFM). Frequenta (Torino, 1992) la Scuola Nazionale dell’INFM. Vince il concorso per l’assegnazione di una borsa di studio biennale (1994-1996) dell’ INFM presso l’Unità di Ricerca di Messina. E’ stato Responsabile scientifico ed ha partecipato come componente a Progetti di Ricerca d’Ateneo e regionali/nazionali/internazionali. In particolare è stato Responsabile Scientifico di Unità del Progetto Europeo del VII Programma Quadro “THermoAcoustic Technology for Energy Applications”(THATEA) (2009-2011) e del progetto PRIN “Thermoacoustic Technology for Solar and Waste Heat Powered Energy Conversion Systems” (PRIN 2017JP8PHK) (TASTES) (2019-2022). PREMI E RICONOSCIMENTI. Vince il “Premio Poster” per la comunicazione scientifica presentata alla “V conferenza scientifica del CRRNSM” (20-22 settembre 1994, Messina). Riceve il riconoscimento “One of the Most Cited Authors” dall’Editore della rivista internazionale “Applied Acoustics” (Elsevier Ldt) come Primo Autore e Corresponding Author dell’ articolo; “Evaluation and Analysis of the Environmental Noise of Messina, Italy”, Applied Acoustics (2005) 66 (4) 447-465. Viene riconosciuto il raggiungimento di risultati scientifici significativi da parte dei revisori del progetto di ricerca europeo FP7 “THermoacoustic Technology for Energy Applications” (THATEA) al “Work Package 3” (Heat Exchangers) in cui è coinvolta l’Unita di Ricerca dell’Università di Messina coordinata dal prof. Piccolo. Riceve (2017) il riconoscimento “Outstanding Reviewer” dagli editori della rivista internazionale “Energy and Buildings” (Elsevier Ltd) per il suo contributo come revisore di articoli scientifici.     ACTUAL POSITION. Associate Professor of ”Technical Physics” (ING-IND/11) at the Department of Engineering of the University of Messina. EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS. He receives in 1990 (cum laude) the degree in Physics at the University of Messina. He receives (1994) the PhD degree in Physics at the University of Messina. QUALIFICATIONS POST LAUREAM. He is (1991) an Associate Research Collaborator of the Research Unity of Messina of the National Institute of Matter Physics (INFM). He attends (1992) the National School of INFM. He gets a two-year grant (1994-1996) of INFM at the Research Unity of Messina of INFM. He is (1995) a member of the “Operative Group of Applied, Environmental, Health and Artistic Heritage Physics” of the Physics Department of the University of Messina. ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS. He receives (1995) the permanent qualification of “Expert of Technical Physics” from the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Messina. He wins (1997) the competition for Researcher of “Environmental Technical Physics” at the University of Messina. He gets (2010) the abilitation for Associate Professor of “Environmental Technical Physics” at the Politecnico of Milano. AWARDS AND ACKNOWLEDGMENTS. He wins the "Poster Award" for the scientific communication presented at the "V CRRNSM scientific conference" (20-22 September 1994, Messina). He receives the "One of the Most Cited Authors" award from the Editor of the international journal "Applied Acoustics" (Elsevier Ldt) as First Author and Corresponding Author of the article; "Evaluation and Analysis of the Environmental Noise of Messina, Italy", Applied Acoustics (2005) 66 (4) 447-465. The achievement of significant scientific results by the reviewers of the European research project FP7 "THermoacoustic Technology for Energy Applications" (THATEA) is recognized at the "Work Package 3" (Heat Exchangers) in which the research unit of Messina coordinated by prof. Piccolo is involved. He receives (2017) the "Outstanding Reviewer" award from the editors of the international journal "Energy and Buildings" (Elsevier Ltd) for his contribution as a reviewer of scientific articles.
