Curriculum

Il prof. Antonio Galvagno ha conseguito la Laurea in Ingegneria Meccanica presso l’Università degli studi di Catania con votazione 110/110 discutendo la tesi sperimentale dal titolo “Modelli meccanici per il controllo di strutture di locomozione innovative”. Nel 2010 consegue il titolo di Dottore di Ricerca in “Sistemi Energetici e Ambiente” presso L’Università del Salento discutendo la tesi dal titolo “La filiera “Carbon Free” per la produzione e l’utilizzo dell’idrogeno nella mobilità sostenibile”. Da giugno 2010 a settembre 2012 è risultato vincitore di un assegno di ricerca presso l’Istituto CNR di Tecnologie Avanzate per l’Energia di Messina per la realizzazione di modelli matematici predittivi per la produzione di idrogeno tramite processi di gassificazione delle biomasse. Da ottobre 2012 a settembre 2020 è stato Ricercatore Universitario in Sistemi per l’Energia e l’Ambiente (ING-IND/09, settore concorsuale 09/C1) presso il Dipartimento di Ingegneria dell'Università degli Studi di Messina. Dal 03/07/2017 abilitato per il settore concorsuale 09/C1 a professore di II fascia (bando D.D. 1532/2016). Da ottobre 2020 è Professore Associato in Sistemi per l’Energia e l’Ambiente (ING-IND/09, settore concorsuale 09/C1) presso il Dipartimento di Ingegneria dell'Università degli Studi di Messina. Le principali attività di ricerca riguardano temi di natura multisettoriale. In particolare, le attività di ricerca sono collegate ai seguenti temi: generazione di energia da scarti industriali liquidi e gassosi; generazione di energia da moto ondoso marino; gassificazione con vapore di scarti solidi di processi industriali; generazione di energia frigorigena tramite il recupero del contenuto energetico dei gas di scarico di motori a combustione interna; studio teorico e sperimentale di autoveicoli in configurazione tradizionale ed ibrida.
L’attività di ricerca scientifica del prof. Galvagno è testimoniata da oltre 70 lavori scientifici, pubblicati principalmente su riviste internazionali o presentate a congressi internazionali e nazionali.

ATTIVITÀ DI RICERCA SCIENTIFICA
L’attività scientifica del prof. Antonio Galvagno si articola in corsi e collaborazioni, progetti di ricerca, revisioni per riviste e congressi internazionali, dottorati di ricerca, con un’attività di ricerca scientifica testimoniata da oltre 50 pubblicazioni scientifiche indicizzate da SCOPUS, le principali contraddistinte da 743 citazioni, da un H-Index pari a 17 e anno di prima pubblicazione 2010 (fonte SCOPUS al 13 novembre 2021).
In particolare le principali linee di ricerca sviluppate hanno riguardato:
  • Progettazione meccanica;
  • Modelli matematici di simulazione di autoveicoli convenzionali e ibridi basati anche sull’utilizzo di celle a combustibile;
  • Motori a Combustione Interna;
  • Simulazione numerica dei veicoli ibridi;
  • Studi sperimentali sul recupero di energia da moto ondoso;
  • Recupero dei cascami termici di motori a combustione interna per la produzione di energia frigorifera a bordo di imbarcazioni;
  • Modelli matematici di simulazione e ricerca sperimentale sulla produzione di energia da scarti industriali solidi, liquidi e gassosi.

    Curriculum

    Prof. Antonio Galvagno graduated in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Catania (vote 110/110) discussing the experimental thesis entitled "Mechanical models for the control of innovative locomotion structures". In 2010 he obtained the Ph.D. in "Energy Systems and Environment" at the University of Salento discussing the thesis entitled "The Carbon Free production chain" for the production and use of hydrogen in sustainable mobility ". From June 2010 to September 2012, he was the winner of a research grant at the CNR Institute of Advanced Technologies for Energy of Messina for the realization of predictive mathematical models for hydrogen production through biomass gasification processes. He was Researcher in Energy Systems and Power Generation at the Department of Engineering of the University of Messina from October 2012 to September 2020. He has been Associate Professor in Energy Systems and Power Generation at the Department of Engineering of the University of Messina since October 2020. The main research activities concern in multi-sectoral themes. In particular, the research activities are linked to the following topics: energy generation from liquid and gaseous industrial waste; marine wave motion generation; steam gasification of solid waste from industrial processes; generation of refrigerating energy by recovering the energy content of the exhaust gases of internal combustion engines; theoretical and experimental study of motor vehicles in traditional and hybrid configuration.
    The scientific research activity of prof. Galvagno is testified by over 70 scientific papers, published mainly in international journals and presented at international and national conferences.

    SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH ACTIVITIES
    The scientific activity of prof. Antonio Galvagno is based into courses and collaborations, research projects, reviews for journals and international congresses, PhD, with a scientific research activity demonstrated by over 50 scientific publications indexed by SCOPUS.
     
    In particular, the main research lines developed concerned in:
    • electric and thermal energy generation from biomass and organic solid waste of industrial processes through gasification processes;
    • generation of energy from liquid and gaseous industrial waste;
    • use of gaseous alternative fuels;
    • generation of energy from marine surf forecast through oscillating water column systems (OWC);
    • models development for energy efficiency optimization in conventional and hybrid configuration vehicles
    • recovery of thermal waste from internal combustion engines for refrigerating energy productions.
