For this second edition of the Motorsport and Automotive Workshop "Students in Hull" 2021, the organizers wanted to build an entire "ecosystem" dedicated to automotive and motorsport.

For this reason, in addition to the workshop days, there will be afternoon events “in series and in parallel” to better enjoy the training climate that the Department wishes to generate.

Wednesday 15 December 2021, at 15:30 in room 427, the Organizing Committee of the Worksop together with Prof. Maria Francesca Milazzo, coordinator of the Degree Course in Management Engineering, are pleased to invite students, doctoral students and colleagues to the Seminar to edited by Eng. Giancarlo Michellone entitled “Basic lessons to survive rather well with innovation”.

Giancarlo Michellone, who has just joined FIAT AUTO, is in charge of the development of antiskid (anti-skid braking, today: ABS) and its diffusion in the USA, as well as the design of innovative servo systems. At the establishment of the Fiat Research Center (CRF) he manages, among other things, the diversification, scouting and transfer of innovations. Then, at IVECO, he deals with international alliances and, as CEO, develops the new IVECO-Rockwell International joint venture. Back in FIAT AUTO, he founds the Innovation Department and a research center in Tokyo. He becomes CEO of the CRF at the end of 1989 and, with Marchionne since 2004, he is also vice-president of the FIAT GROUP for research until 2006. After FIAT, he takes over as chairman of AREA SCIENCE PARK in Trieste. He is the author of the novel: "A Fiat that was: when we did anti-skid in short pants", where he recounts the lessons learned for the development of innovation.
