L'oggetto della ricerca sarà lo studio delle sollecitazioni termo-meccaniche agenti sui principali organi strutturali di motori a combustione interna (MCI) alimentati con combustibili innovativi. Dall’analisi del funzionamento del motore, si risalirà alle sollecitazioni, sia termiche che meccaniche, agenti sui diversi componenti strutturali, quali bielle, manovelle ed albero motore. Sarà prevista la caratterizzazione meccanica, sia statica che a fatica, del materiale con cui le varie componenti del motore sono realizzate per validarne la resistenza strutturale quando il motore è alimentato con combustibili innovativi.

The object of the research will be the study of the thermo-mechanical stresses acting on the main structural organs of internal combustion engines (ICE) fed with innovative fuels. From the analysis of the operation of the engine, it will be possible to trace the stresses, both thermal and mechanical, acting on the various structural components, such as connecting rods, cranks and crankshaft. The mechanical characterization, both static and fatigue, of the material with which the various engine components are made will be provided to validate their structural resistance when the engine is powered by innovative fuels.
