The University of Messina, with a clear intention to fulfill its role as an active part of the local community, has opened its facilities to the citizens during the Christmas period (from the 8th of December 2019 to the 6th of January 2020): a real sport village, equipped with a multipurpose playground and food area. With this perspective in mind, the University Governance has enriched this gift to the local community with a full programme of entertainments, music, sport and solidarity activities. Access was generally free, with the exception of some activities for solidarity fundraising. Cornerstone of this organization has been the inauguration of the ecological ice rink, a novelty for the latitude at which the city is located. Of particular interest, among the many organized activities, there was an American style dance party reserved for the students, a concert of the nationally renowned musical band “Gemelli Diversi”, a solidarity runway show, a Santa Claus event for the kids, and the Sport Festival. These events are only possible to describe only as days of movement, community, sweat and fun.
