Particular attention is given to mental health, with strong reference to the health of women and gender-based issue. The University of Messina joined the World Mental Health Day by participating in the sixth edition of the (H) -Open day held on the 10th of October 2019. The initiative sponsored by the Italian Society of Psychiatry, the Italian Society of Neuropsychopharmacology and the Italian Society of Geriatric Psychiatry. It guarantees free clinical-diagnostic and information services dedicated to women suffering from anxiety, depression, mood and sleep disorders, psychosis and eating disorders. The goal has been to raise awareness about the importance of early diagnosis and facilitate access to treatment, helping to overcome prejudice, stigma and fears related to mental illness.
