Obiettivi Formativi

Acquisire una più matura conoscenza dello sviluppo socio-istituzionale del mondo greco e romano e una buona padronanza tecnica dell’epigrafia greca e latina. Sviluppare la capacità di individuare, nel tempo e nello spazio, il lessico fondamentale delle organizzazioni statuali e sociali nella Grecia antica e nell’Impero romano, nonché approfondire temi e figure della moderna storiografia sull’antichità.

Learning Goals

Students will acquire a more comprehensive knowledge of socio-institutional development of the Greek and Roman world and a good technical command of Greek and Latin epigraphy; they will also increase the ability to identify, in time and space, the essential vocabulary of political and social organizations in ancient Greece and in the Roman Empire, as well as to deepen the themes and protagonists of modern historiography about antiquity.

Metodi didattici

Il corso prevede lezioni frontali ed interattive con lettura di testi e presentazioni in PowerPoint. Si organizzeranno anche seminari per coinvolgere gli studenti nella predisposizione di schede ed approfondimenti relativi ai temi proposti.

Teaching Methods

The course includes lectures and interactive lessons with readings and PowerPoint presentations. Seminars also will be held to involve students for the preparation of reports and extensive research about proposed themes.

Prerequisiti

Buona conoscenza delle lingue greca e latina, della storia e dell’esperienza istituzionale della Grecia antica e del mondo romano.

Good knowledge of Greek and Latin languages, history and institutional experience of Ancient Greece and of the Roman world.

Verifiche dell'apprendimento

La preparazione dello studente è accertata nel corso di una prova d’esame orale, da sostenere al termine del semestre o in altre date riportate sul calendario degli appelli d’esame. Per valutare le conoscenze acquisite saranno rivolte domande, sia di carattere generale che pertinenti percorsi tematici specifici previsti nel programma.

Assessment

Students will be assessed through an oral exam at the end of the semester or on other dates as scheduled on the exams calendar. To assess the knowledge gained there will be asked questions both on the general part and specific thematic paths foreseen in the course syllabus.
