Obiettivi Formativi
The aim of the course is to introduce students, who have already studied the basic concepts of statistical inference and of the linear regression model, to the analysis of data with a special focus to inferential statistical methods for program evaluation. After introducing the methodological framework of program evaluation, the course will focus on the tools of ex-ante methods and ex-post methods. Three major types of research will be considered: studies that use randomization to assign people to the experimental and the control group are called true experiments; studies in which experimental and control groups are formed either by self-selection or by using natural groups are called quasi-experiments; and finally, studies that use the value of a variable to assign people to the experimental and the control group are called regression discontinuity designs. During the course exercises and case studies will be solved using several statistical software, such as R and StataMetodi didattici
