Metodi didattici

Teaching Methods

Lectures with PowerPoint slides; experimental tests and analysis of specific examples. The course consists on 24 hours of classroom lectures integrated by 24 hours of classroom written applications and laboratory practicals. During the course, lessons will be organized (concerning the design and prevention of corrosion) aimed at stimulating the individual and group participation of students.

Prerequisiti

Prerequisites

Knowledge of the basic principles of Physics (quantities and units of measure), Chemistry (nomenclature, atoms and atomic bonds, electrochemistry) and Science and Technology of Materials (structure and properties of materials) is required.

Verifiche dell'apprendimento

Assessment

During the course, 2 scheduled in itinere tests will be carried out to check the students' preparation on the course lesson topics. The ongoing tests will be performed only to attending students (course frequency>=70%). The two tests will be carried out in the middle and at the end of the course, respectively. The grade of the itinere tests will be expressed in thirtieths. Any positive grade result of the scheduled tests will be kept for 3 years. For students who have carried out the in itinere tests, the final exam will consist of an integrative interview which will extend from the topics developed in the tests to the additional concepts developed during the course. The final grade will also take into account the interaction and active participation of the students in the lessons. For those who do not want to carry out the in itinere tests or have not reached a positive grade of the in itinere tests, they can take directly the final exam. The final exam consists of a written exercise and an oral discussion on various topics covered during the course. The final judgment will be based on the evaluation of both the written exercise and the oral discussion. It will be expressed in thirtieths, it is commensurate with the preparation demonstrated by the student in the topics covered in the course, with particular reference to the mastery of the concepts and methods, the ability to solve problems, to the clarity of exposition. In the event that the student does not pass the exam, he can take the exam at the next useful session, in the same way. However, this exam can only include an oral discussion if, at its discretion, the student asks to consider valid the written exercise previously carried out (in itinere tests can also be considered as written test).
