The aim of the course is to provide students with the most extensive and comprehensive knowledge of the events related to Contemporary History, from the French Revolution up to the present day. For the language course: The aim of the course is to provide students with the most extensive and comprehensive knowledge of the events related to Contemporary History, from the French Revolution up to the nineteenth century.

Il mio approccio sarà essenzialmente interattivo. Cercherò infatti di testare volta per volta quanto dellinsegnamento impartito venga effettivamente recepito.

Prerequisiti

Per comprendere gli insegnamenti impartiti a lezione è necessario che gli studenti conoscano, almeno a grandi linee, gli eventi più cruciali della Storia Contemporanea.

In order to understand the lessons taught in class it is necessary that students know at least in broad terms, the most crucial events in Contemporary History.

cercherò di inserire prove d'esame in itinere, anche avalutative, in maniera tale da individuare eventuali lacune e consigliare strategie di apprendimento mirate.

I will try to include in itinere examination tests, also avalutative, so to identify any gaps and recommend targeted learning strategies.

Programma del Corso

Il corso sarà preliminarmente incentrato sulle vicende che vanno dalla Rivoluzione Francese al crollo del socialismo reale nei paesi dell'Europa dell'Est. La parte monografica invece sarà focalizzata sul nesso donne-cittadinanza, mostrando come da Olympe de Gouges in avanti la conquista dei diritti, e particolarmente (ma non solo) di quelli politici sia stata e continui ad essere faticosissima fino ai nostri giorni. L'arco temporale di maggiore riferimento sarà l'immediato secondo dopoguerra e si faranno riflettere gli studenti sulla concreta geografia del potere femminile e maschile in Italia attraverso l'esempio di case studies e sui nessi tra potere politico e stratificazione sociale e culturale dell'epoca. Course Syllabus

The course will be preliminarily focused on the events from the French Revolution to the collapse of real socialism in Eastern European countries. The monographic part, instead, will focus on the women-citizenship nexus, showing how from Olympe de Gouges onwards the conquest of rights, and particularly (but not only) of the political ones, has been and continues to be very tiring just up today. The time frame of greatest reference will be the immediate second post-war period and the students will reflect on the concrete geography of female and male power in Italy through the example of case studies and on the links between political power and social and cultural stratification of the time.
