Conoscenza della fonetica e delle strutture morfologiche e sintattiche di base (The paradigm, regular and irregular verbs; tense formation and usage: simple present, simple past, present participle/gerund; the auxiliaries to be, to have and to do. Interrogative, negative and negative-interrogative forms; continuous tenses, compound tenses, question tags; wh-questions; the passive voice; differences in the usage of simple past and present perfect; English pronouns. The future (using the simple present, the present continuous, to be going to, shall/will); present and past subjunctive. Present and past conditional (usage of should and would). Conditional sentences: type 0, 1, 2 and 3. Modal verbs. The 'duration' form; English adjectives (forms and usage); English substantives. Comparatives and superlatives. Programma del Corso

Durante il corso verranno illustrate le strutture fonetiche e morfosintattiche della lingua inglese dapprima a livello teorico e, successivamente, a livello applicativo mediante l’analisi, la traduzione e il commento linguistico di testi scientifici di area radiologica tratti dalle più prestigiose riviste internazionali.

Course Syllabus

The course deals with the phonetic, morphologic, and syntactical structures of the English language, which are at first introduced theoretically and then at a practical level through the analysis and translation of the articles drawn from the most prestigious radiological international journals.
