Obiettivi Formativi

Il corso si pone come obiettivo quello di: -avviare gli studenti alla pratica della traduzione mediante l'analisi dei problemi linguistici e traduttivi che sorgono a partire dai testi elaborati in classe; -consentire agli studenti di riflettere sulle problematiche traduttive legate alla specializzazione dei testi -far acquisire agli studenti consapevolezza nell’uso delle tecniche traduttive; -indirizzare gli studenti al raggiungimento delle competenze terminologiche di base legate ai linguaggi specialistici, fornendo loro metodologie specifiche e strumenti tecnici necessari per operare con successo nell'ambito della traduzione specializzata.

Learning Goals

The course proposes as its objective to: - Direct the students to the practice of translations through the analysis of language and translating problems which arise from elaborate texts in class. -Allow the students to reflect on the translations problems attached to the specialization of the texts. - Make the students acquire awareness in the use of the translating techniques. -Direct the students in achieving the basic terminolgy competences linked to specialized languages, by giving them the specific methodologies and technical instruments, necessary to operate with success in the area of specialized translation.

Verifiche dell'apprendimento

Alla fine del corso è prevista una verifica delle conoscenze acquisite mediante una prova scritta di traduzione diretta e inversa, le cui modalità saranno illustrate nel corso delle lezioni con opportune esemplificazioni ed esercitazioni in aula. La durata della prova è di cinque ore e prevede: a) Traduzione dalla Lingua straniera alla madre lingua Uno o più testi per un massimo di 1,5 cartelle (2250 battute).. b) Traduzione dalla madre lingua alla lingua straniera. Testo di 1 cartella (1500 battute). La votazione finale risulterà dalla somma dei punti conseguiti nelle due prove con l’aggiustamento dell’eventuale decimale alla cifra intera. Il risultato positivo ottenuto in una sola delle due prove, potrà essere mantenuto se lo studente supera la prova restante entro gli appelli previsti per l’anno acc. di riferimento.

Assessment

At the end of the course a test will be given to verify the acquired knowledge. It will consist of a written direct and inverse translation paper , the procedures of which will be illustrated in the course of the lessons with the opportune examples and exercises in class. The duration of the paper is 5 hours and is made up of: a) Translation from the foreigh language to mother tongue language One or more papers for a maximum of (2250) characters) b) Translations from the mother tongue to the foreign language. (1500 characters) The final mark will be the sum of the parts carried out with an eventual decimal adjustment to the whole sum. The positive result obtained in only one of the the two papers, can be maintained if the student passes the the remaining paper within rounds foreseen for the referred to academic year.

Traduzione non specializzata; I linguaggi specialistici; Norme e convenzioni della tipologia testuale presa in esame; Caratteristiche morfosintattiche e lessicali; Metodologia e obiettivi della traduzione; Strategie traduttive; Strumenti a disposizione del traduttore. I Modulo: Il corso presterà particolare attenzione al linguaggio della comunicazione professionale, commerciale e pratica e, nello specifico, al linguaggio della corrispondenza professionale (richieste, ordini d’acquisto, proposte e offerte commerciali, richieste di preventivo, spedizioni, verbali di riunioni, comunicazione disservizi, contratti di lavoro, proposta di partnership, lettere per organizzare meeting, conferenze, seminari, esempi di annunci di lavoro, inserzioni, risposte alla inserzioni, curricula, lettere di presentazione e referenze, lettere di dimissioni, etc.) attraverso un ampio repertorio di esempi pratici e modelli concreti. II Modulo: Il corso riguarderà, inoltre, lo studio della traduzione di testi appartenenti a generi letterari di vario tipo. Il presente modulo formativo mira a fornire gli strumenti teorici e pratici per approcciarsi in maniera concreta al ruolo di traduttore letterario. Gli studenti si confronteranno con testi ed autori, seguendo, per quanto riguarda strategie e tecniche di traduzione, gli spunti offerti dal docente e dai vari manuali e trattati di teoria della traduzione analizzati durante lo svolgimento delle lezioni. Durante le lezioni sarà incentivata la partecipazione degli studenti attraverso prove pratiche e progetti di traduzione atti a simulare la pratica professionale della traduzione specializzata. A partire dai testi affrontati, sarà loro richiesto l’elaborazione di un glossario o schedario terminologico mirante a fissare la terminologia acquisita in classe. NB.: i testi e le dispense saranno distribuite durante lo svolgimento delle lezioni.

Course Syllabus

Professional translation Vs. non specialized translation; the specialized languages; Norm and conventions of the textual typology taken into exam; morphosyntactic and lexical characteristics; Methodology and objectives of the translation; Translations stategies; Tools available to the translator. Module I: The course will give particular attention to the professional, commercial and practical communication language and in the specific, to the professional correspondence ( requests, purchase orders, commercial proposes and offers, quote offers, shipment, letters for the organization of meetings, conferencesm seminarsm examples of work offers, advertisement, answers to the advertisements, curriculum, presentationand reference letters, termination letters, etc) through an ample repertoire of practical examples and concrete examples. Module II: The course will also treat the study of the translation of texts belonging to various types of literal gernes. The present formative module looks to giving the theoretical and practical tools so as to approach the role of the literal translator in a concrete way. The students will confront one another with copyright texts, following, as far as translation strategies and techniques are concerned, the prompts given by the teacher and from the various theoretical works analyzed during the execution of the lessons. During the lessons the students participation will be incentivated through practical translation tests and projects so to simulate the professional practice of the specialized translation. Starting from the tests dealt with, they will be asked to elaborate of a terminological glossary aiming to fix into their mind the terminology acquired in class.
