Obiettivi Formativi

Il corso si propone di fornire un quadro dettagliato del sistema delle fonti di produzione del diritto romano e delle corrispondenti fonti di cognizione, in modo distinto e specifico per ciascuno dei periodi storici nei quali esso si articola, dall’età arcaica sino alla compilazione giustinianea. Si riserva, inoltre, particolare attenzione alle diverse metodologie di studio del “Corpus iuris civilis” succedutesi nelle varie epoche storiche ed alle prospettive di indagine impiegate dall’odierna scienza romanistica.

Learning Goals

The course aims to provide a detailed picture of the sources (for the production and for the knowledge) of Roman law, distinctly and specifically for each of the historical periods in which it is articulated, since the Archaic age to the Justinian’s compilation. A particular attention will be also reserved to the different methods of study of "Corpus Juris Civilis", which have occurred in different historical ages, and to the prospects of investigation employed by today's Romanistic studies.

Knowledge of essential lines of Roman history and society. The knowledge of the Latin language is not essential although it may help to facilitate the study.
