Obiettivi Formativi
Learning Goals
The aim of the course is to provide students with the basic methodological tools to deal with the translation of both generic and specialist texts. Starting with fundamental concepts in the field of translation studies, students will be taught to analyse texts, identify syntactic and terminological problems, structural organization, gender characteristics, etc. and then find translation solutions. We will also look at the use of CAT tools, and in particular MemoQ, for which students will be able to take advantage of a free license.Metodi didattici
Il corso prevede lezioni frontali, dando però ampio rilievo alla partecipazione attiva degli studenti. Durante il corso verranno assegnate esercitazioni di traduzione (anche tramite il gruppo Facebook predisposto a tal fine) che si svolgeranno in classe e a casa.Teaching Methods
The course is based on lectures, although great importance will be given to the active participation of students. During the course translation exercises will be assigned (also through the Facebook group set up for this purpose) to be worked on in class and at home.Prerequisiti
Superamento dell'esame di Lingua Inglese 2. Livello B2 di conoscenza della lingua inglese del Quadro Europeo di Riferimento (QCER) per le lingue europee.Prerequisites
Having passed English Language 2. B2 level in English according to the European Framework (CEFR).Verifiche dell'apprendimento
L’esame consiste in una prova scritta (digitale) che mira a verificare le competenze traduttive. L’esame scritto consiste in due prove di traduzione: una dall’inglese all’italiano e l’altra dall’italiano all’inglese. L’esame si ritiene superato solo nel caso in cui entrambe le prove risulteranno sufficienti. Nel caso in cui una delle due prove risultasse insufficiente, l’esame dovrà essere ripetuto per intero.Assessment
The exam consists of a written exam (computer-based) which aims to test translation skills. The exam consists of two parts: a translation from English into Italian and another from Italian into English. In order to pass the exam the student has to pass both individual parts of the exam. If a student passes only one of the two parts, they will have to resit the entire exam.Programma del Corso
Nel corso delle lezioni si illustreranno le principali tipologie testuali appartenenti a generi diversi, da quelli più divulgativi a quelli più specialistici. Si identificheranno le principali strategie traduttive adottate dal traduttore, ad esempio prestiti, calchi, trasposizione, modulazione, ecc.Course Syllabus
During the lessons, the main text types from different genres, both generic and more specialized, will be examined. The main translation strategies adopted by the translator, such as loans, casts, transposition, modulation, etc will be discussed.Testi di riferimento: • Munday A., Introducing Translation Studies: Theories and Applications, Routledge, 2012.
