Verifiche dell'apprendimento

L’esame è orale e si svolge interamente in lingua inglese. Almeno due settimane prima della data dell’esame, lo studente dovrà consegnare (in formato cartaceo, non via e-mail) un elaborato in lingua inglese della lunghezza di 3.500 parole circa, in cui analizzerà una delle opere in programma, oppure un’opera fuori programma (attinente all’arco cronologico e al nucleo tematico del corso) da concordare con la docente.

Programma del Corso

L’amore nella poesia inglese dal Romanticismo al Modernismo. Il corso verterà sull’analisi della tematica dell’amore nella poesia britannica del diciannovesimo secolo e dei primi decenni del ventesimo. In particolare, si prenderanno in considerazione le varie forme di componimenti poetici (sonetti, ballate, etc.) e lo sviluppo dell’immaginario poetico relativo all’amore, per come si configura intrecciandosi con gli sviluppi della società del tempo: dalle liriche del Romanticismo, alle ballate dell’età vittoriana, con le loro narrazioni di vicende di amore e morte, ai sonetti d’amore con voce poetante al femminile, alle liriche di amore omosessuale nate sul finire dell’età vittoriana, fino ad arrivare all’inversione dei canoni del discorso amoroso e sull’amore che viene attuata dai poeti del Modernismo.
